Hello world!
Hello world! Another day, another site.
This time I chose WordPress, since custom coding stuff up is way to time consuming.
The thing I did custom code however, was the visual theme. After looking through starter themes like Underscores and Bones I quickly realised that creating a theme from scratch would be as quick as starting of with a base theme, if not quicker. And since I haven’t done much with responsive HTML5 sites, this would be a good opportunity to sharpen my skills in that area of expertise, too.
So, I cooked up a custom theme that’s responsive, HTML5 valid, and semantically as correct as it gets (or rather, as I can get it to be).
Plugin wise I am keeping things fairly simple, so I only use three plugins:
- Remote Medias Libraries so I can directly include images from my Flickr account into blog posts I write
- Google Analytics by Yoast to add GA to WordPress with ease
- WordPress SEO by Yoast so I don’t forget to add SEO stuff like meta data to a blog post
The only thing really missing for now is some content, we’ll see where this goes…
